This delicious vegan Irish Soda Bread is both low-fat and oil-free and is so simple to make and will go great with a vegan Irish Stew! Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day with this hearty and tasty bread! You just need a few ingredients, and your well on your way to enjoying a healthy and tasty Irish Bread with your favorite Irish Stew!
For the ingredients, you will need almond milk, apple cider vinegar, whole wheat pastry flour, raw sugar, raisins, baking soda, and sea salt. Mix the wet ingredients first and then set aside. Then mix together the dry ingredients. Pour the milk mixture in with the dry ingredients and mix together until you’ve reached a dough-like consistency that is not too wet or soggy. If the dough seems dry, you can add water or more almond milk, 1 tablespoon at a time.
Place the dough on a floured surface and knead the dough for approximately 30 seconds. Avoid over kneading the dough, otherwise the dough will become too tough.
Place the dough on a greased pan or on a silicone mat or parchment paper. Cut an “X” shape on top of the dough.
Bake the bread for approximately 30 minutes at 425 degrees F. Check the center of the bread with a toothpick to ensure that it has been cooked through. Enjoy and Happy St. Patrick’s Day!
Vegan Irish Soda Bread: Low-Fat, No-Oil
Ingredients
- 1 3/4 cups unsweetened almond milk
- 2 teaspoons apple cider vinegar
- 2 cups whole wheat pastry flour
- 1/3 cup raw sugar
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 1/4 teaspoons sea salt
- 1 cup regular or golden raisins
Instructions
- Mix together the almond milk and apple cider vinegar and set aside. Then mix together the dry ingredients, including the raisins. Pour the milk mixture in with the dry ingredients and mix until the batter is a dough-like consistency, but not too wet or soggy.
- If the dough seems dry, add more water or almond milk, 1 tablespoon at a time.
- Knead the dough for about 30 seconds. Avoid over kneading the dough, otherwise it will become too tough.
- Then place the dough on a greased pan or on a silicone mat or parchment paper. Cut an "X" shape on top of the dough.
