Since I was a young girl, I have always been intrigued with health and nutrition. I would study the latest diets trends and always keep up to date on the next nutritional discovery! However, over the years I had became very sick and started battling with painful cramps and bladder infections. I then started to get ovarian cysts and was eventually diagnosed with endometriosis. At the time, I had tried the Atkins diet, the Ketogenic Diet, and various other diets that were popular at the time. I eventually came across the low-fat, plant-based diet and immediately started to see positive changes within my body and overall health.
Even though I was able to overcome many physical ailments through a whole-foods, plant-based diet, I still wasn’t able to entirely get rid of my bladder infections and ovarian cysts. I realized that my diet, though much healthier than the Standard American Diet, included too many grains, refined carbohydrates, refined sugars, and other foods that are acidic to the body. I then transitioned into a low-fat, raw vegan diet that was high in water rich fruits and vegetables. It was through this diet that I finally was able overcome my bladder infections and endometriosis.
I have since been fascinated with the raw vegan lifestyle. Pure Living Nutrition was created in an effort to share delicious and healthy recipes that not only are pleasurable to eat, but that also help nourish and heal our bodies. Food is a powerful medicine, and if we tap into God’s living foods, we will experience vibrant health.
The recipes in Pure Living Nutrition are raw vegan recipes with occasional ingredients that are not considered “raw”, such as maple syrup, nutritional yeast, peanuts, miso, etc. I personally love to occasionally add in these ingredients because it makes the recipes more interesting and enjoyable, but feel free to substitute them when desired. Most of my recipes are lower in fat, as well as oil-free. Even though each recipe contains nutrition information, the nutrition information is just an estimation. I hope that you enjoy the recipes and cheers to amazing health!
